A Quick and Breezy Summer Dress
I don’t know about the place you live in but Barcelona is melting hot right now. Should you have to walk outside for lunch, there’s a great danger of melting.

I made this dress quickly (I love my new serger :) so I secretly (well not so much now I suppose) instant gratification dress.
The front is basically a tank top, no darts.

I played a bit with the back of the dress, since the cut is so simple, and added a few fake darts. It gives the dress a slight racerback shape but the fabric (a silky chiffon) and the print keep it girly.

Outfit photos by JP Carrascal.
Did I mention how light and easy to wear this dress is?
If you’re interested I can try and make a tutorial.

Looks so light and cool! Perfect for scorching hot weather, like we have been having here in the Midwest. We have been hovering around the 100 degree F mark for what seems like forever!

Good to hear from you Lizz :)
I am thinking to make a second version out of batiste. I have a light grey one I could use.
Long live summer :>

Thanks for the comment Maddie :)
Can you believe I had this print for more than half a year now? I bought it in winter when it cost me around 1 euro per yard.
I am glad I turned it into a dress. Browsing your own fabric stash can sometimes surprise you.

This dress looks like the perfect one for summer. A serger is on the top of my wishlist.

I thought about buying one for years. I really makes sewing quicker and your garments look more professional. You can of couse do that with a regular sewing machine, but it’s have the time with the serger.

What a pretty dress! Here in Munich, although right now it looks like summer is leaving, we had some really hot days and I was craving for such a dress!

It’s very comfortable and light.
You can visit me in Barcelona where there are 30 degrees Celsius every day :)
