As part of my summer sewing I have a new project in mind, a skirt. My original idea was a simple, elastic band cotton skirt with square pockets, but something makes me want to add a bit of “quirk” to this garment’s waistband. There are some ideas I found. Any tips and suggestions are welcome!
I have scalloped hems on my mind for some time now, but I didn’t yet quite figure out the project to use them in. This scalloped waistband looks nice. From Vivat Veritas‘ Burdastyle projects.
This waistband is juts a tad wider than the waistbands I sew for my skirts and short but I just love how it makes the skirt and colour pop! From Elisabeths’ A Growing Home Blog.
I also like this crown like waistband like the one Valerie from Threads Thoughts Things put on her coral skirt.
And look at these shorts with their floppy waistband. Such a neat idea. From Free People.
Last but not least, look how a simple pleat detail and a smart zipper can turn a simple pair of shorts into something really unique. From Pinterest.
What about you, what’s your favourite type of waistband?
