Velvet, really?
I’ve been running away from velvet since 4th grade when my godmother made me a green velvet pinafore, which was more like a long tube of elastic velvet with two fat straps and a piece of cotton lace dyed green. I couldn’t say exactly why I disliked this garment of even why I kept running away from velvet ever since, but as they say, time heals everything :D and I am now again tempted to do something with velvet.

It seems people know what to do with velvet, like this black librarian pinafore from Etsy (above) or the red velvet skirt the beautiful Anna-Lenna from Anyway, it’s fashion is wearing (below).

I also like these burgundy-red wide leg velvet pants from Free People. It seems they’re not selling them anymore but I think these are pretty straightforward to make if you’ve made pants before.

What about you? Do you wear velvet? How?

Oh, I so share your feelings on velvet. I kept running away from it, but lately I keep dreaming of a burgundy velvet and lace dress! :D

That sounds very nice, any plans on making this a dream come true? ;)

I used to hate my childhood velvet dress (it had elastic bands at the sleeves, eating me up alive), but now when I think about it, it was really pretty! and I started wearing my mom’s 80s velvet blazer with puffy sleeves about 2 years ago :)

Haha, and here I was, thinking I was alone in this. I would have tweeted to you Daria to compare dresses :)
