Mini Purple Marie Skirt

I used the Marie pattern from Burda to make a tulip pencil skirt. (If you want to give it a try here’s the link to the free pattern. )

The Marie pattern from Burda looked kind of fun and easy to sew so I gave it a try. It was super easy to sew and the finished dress looked lovely in cotton.

However, I felt that the pleats in the front were too puffy and that they required fancier tops and a fancier style than mine to be happy. And that the skirt was too narrow around the knees, forcing me to walk like a geisha.

So I made it a mini and decided to wear it backwards, with the pleats on the back. There’s plenty of room to walk and the pleats over the bottom are super-fun.

What do you think? Would you wear those pleats backwards?
